Sigourney Weaver has confirmed her next movie is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which brings the legendary actress famous for playing iconic sci-fi roles to the Star Wars universe.
Speaking to Deadline, the Alien, Avatar, and Ghostbusters star said The Mandalorian & Grogu is the next movie she is set to film. “I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day,” she said. “I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year.”
Weaver wouldn’t be drawn on the character she plays or the nature of the role, however. “I can’t say much about it right now but it’s fun to bounce between all these different universes,” she added.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is the first Star Wars film to be released in theaters since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. It’s directed by Jon Favreau and will "lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni." The Mandalorian & Grogu currently has a release date of May 22, 2026.
At D23 earlier this month, John Favreau and Dave Filoni took the stage to give us our first look at The Mandalorian & Grogu. While the film only just started shooting, Favreau and Filoni revealed initial footage featuring Grogu in his pod, Mando in his full armor, and a reminder that they are a "clan of two."

We don't know much else about what will be in the film, but we do know one character who will not: Boba Fett. Actor Temuera Morrison recently cited The Book of Boba Fett's poor reception as the reason for the once beloved character not returning in The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Lucasfilm recently wrapped up Star Wars: The Acolyte, which was canceled after just one season. As for Mando and Grogu, they last saw action in 2023 with Mandalorian Season 3. Other upcoming Star Wars projects include Andor Season 2 and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,
